Collegeee

Thought I might as well write something as a distraction from English coursework.
So I'm at college now :)
everything is grand
I love my subjects, (or i love the IDEA of french but it's pretty hard yeah.) I love my teachers, I love the social, i love college :).

The deliberate distractions from english coursework have included : Eating a ridiculous amount (I had an entire pizza at dinner, damn straight), watching constant desperate house-wives episodes, becaue how good is it really? Aswell as errr.. looking at my coursework but not doing it pretty much. Oh this is a distraction as well, sorry.

probably rant on more later, but I feel partially guilty for deliberately distracting myself, so better do a bit more work i suppose.

OH P.S I'M KNITTING A JUMPER. YEAHHH.

Random Poem.

Bit naff.

a fly struggling in a honey jar:
thought that there was
nothing sweeter on earth,
than to swim in a vast ocean
of the sweetest substance.
Strange how his desire to
surround himself with what
made him exulant resulted
in his greatest despair.

Fun in Betchworth
I'm having a half an hour break. The kids are watching Mickey Mouse.
Let's rewind a little bit and tell you how i got here? :)
No, it's not 20 years on since my last post and i now have 3 kids aged 2, 4 and 5..
I'm still 16 and helping out a friend in need :)
Monday night my facebook status desperately changed to "Anyone know anyone who's hiring? still on the job hunt"
my mother's friend replied "ME!" her nanny is away and she needed a hand with the kids ad the housework, at 7 the next morning it was confirmed and by 10 i was on one of four trains to Betchworth.

NOW, the train journey was fairly interesting in itself. The first train to Warrington Bank Quay was trouble free, meaning i actually got a seat. It was a 13 minute train. I didn't actually really NEED a seat. The next train was an hour and a half long to Wolverhampton. It was sitting on the floor of this train i was told that there ad been a suicide at Preston Station, a London Euston train had been cancelled and many of the travellers were redirected to MY train to where they took up most of the fecking seats. So I ended up sat on the floor with a group of people, by a loo that was out of order. The amount of times we has to describe how the loo was out of order to the people that had to climb over us was unreal. Amongst the poor sad group of people on the floor, was a young mother of a 3 month old boy and was covered in poo by the time we got there; and some loser called Tom who was also on MY next train and is my newly and only follower on here. So I picked up a stalker on the journey ;) Hello Tom !

Anyway, there's Victoria who is 2, Charlotte who turned 4 last week and William who is 5. They're great kids, but i have never been so tired in my life. I can see how Jo may have needed help, I don't know how she manages. She is a saint. Anyway, besides the weein and the pooin and the crying, I'm havin a good time haha. Jo's friend Naomi described it as "good contraception" and I can safely say that, for now anyway, she is definately right. However intriguing it is to hear from 5 year old how "mummy's don't have willys", I can safely say that it's not for me yet :).

Twister Ice Lollies on the Brain. Gaga.

Date: Wednesday the something of June
Twisters consumed: Too many and yet too little.
My FIRST hat .
Knitting, I'm too cool. As you can see the colours corolate with that of a twister ice lolly :). Making another Green and Orange ones for my beloved sister, I'm sure she will be thrilled.

You may not know this, but I am Gaga about Lady Gaga. I lav lav laav her. This is something I did for media, every song she has has a deeper meaning, this sort of explores 'Bad Romance'. Now attempting to get a grasp on "Alejandro", which is proving difficult, first have a read of this though:

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, otherwise known as the ambiguous and increasingly iconic superstar: Lady Gaga. Gaga first made her upcoming appearance in the music industry with Streamline Records, an imprint of Interscope Records upon its establishment in 2007. Throughout her early time with Interscope she worked as a distinguished songwriter for fellow label artists, soon enough she captured the attention of renowned R&B artist Akon, who identified her eminent vocal ability and had her sign to his label, Kon Live Distribution, established in early 2006 specialising in Hip-Hop, Contemporary R&B and Reggae. Her first Album “the fame” received predominantly positive reviews and reached number one in the album chart in Canada, Austria, Germany and Ireland. The first two singles “Just dance” and “Poker face” were co-produced with RedOne- otherwise known as Nadir Khayat, a Moroccan-Swedish producer who often coalesces with Akon to form RedOneKonvict. RedOne has been often conveyed as the key to her futuristic sound. Both these virtuoso and exceptionally beguiling songs became international number one hits. It is apparent that Lady Gaga is simply a 5 foot 1 inch package of pure talent and determination; she has erupted into the music industry and shocked the world with her platinum blonde hair and futuristic outfits. Having taught herself to play the piano at the age of 4 and produced her own ballad at 13, it is plain that Gaga is born for the demanding celebrity lifestyle, the question is whether the demanding celebrity world is ready for her! Gaga is acknowledged in having an incredibly strong attitude towards show business, the general public love to see their favourite celebs going about their everyday lives like any ordinary person, we have an unhealthy obsession with celebrities - their lifestyles, relationships and particularly their weight and body shape, which is only perpetuated (some may say even caused), by the media. Nothing thrills us more that images of celebrities as buck-toothed children or lacking their usual stage makeup, we are frequently satisfied with the amount of celebrity images such as these are bombarded over pages of the most popular magazines. Gaga is disgusted with the way that appreciated and eminent personalities are regularly seen walking down the high-street in simple boot-cut jeans and an affordable hairstyle, she quotes: “I would rather die than have my fans not see me in a pair of high heels. I'd never give up my wigs or hats for anything. You see legendary people taking out their trash, I think it's destroying show business.”
Gaga’s lyrics are incredibly literary, her music reflects current times, “Dirty Rich” in particular explains the New York scene and the prep-school party kids she grew up with. Cyndi Lauper is a massive Gaga fan, just as Gaga is a huge fan of hers and is noted as one of Gaga’s primary influences, along with Madonna, David Bowie, Judy Garland, Grace Jones, Freddie Mercury, Liza Minnelli and Michael Jackson. Lauper describes Gaga as having “an incredibly pop sensibility”; she goes on to say: “When “Bad Romance” starts, the music grabs your ear immediately. Then she opens with the lines “I want your ugly, I want your disease,” and all of a sudden you’re listening. Most of the stuff on the radio is not very clever, but Gaga presents her ideas in a sophisticated manner.” Gaga takes pride in her own uniqueness and individuality, having being seen walking down the high street in several intense Dolce and Gabana numbers, Gaga can stand out a mile even in the blinding lights and insane outfits of Las Vegas: wearing a Thierry Mugler-inspired black rubber dress embellished with gold origami pyramids, ridiculously long fake eyelashes, crystal-encrusted sunglasses and sky high heels, she fashions quite a scene she saunters past the curious gamblers.
Her vocals have been frequently compared to that of Madonna and Gwen Stefani while the structure of her music has been said to resemble that of classic 1980s pop. The Boston Globe critic Sarah Rodman noted that she “draws obvious inspirations from Madonna to Gwen Stefani... in her girlish but sturdy pipes and bubbly beats." Some say her lyrics lack an intellectual stimulation although "she does manage to get you moving and grooving at an almost effortless pace." I strongly disagree with this statement and believe Gaga to explore modern issues relating to the link between media and its influence on society. The lyrics to “Bad Romance” are a mixture of deep symbolism and sheer randomness, it explores her own desire for fame and how she would stop at nothing to achieve her ambitions. The song opens with “I want your ugly, I want your disease”, the whole song is a metaphor for Gaga’s desire for fame for another person- clever! There is a certain amount of sadomasochism in the song, she seems to know that this ‘love’ (of success in the music industry) will hurt her and treat her badly, but she will stop at nothing to get there. She makes much reference to Alfred Hitchcock films, an British born director that specialized in psychological thrillers such as “vertigo”, “psycho”, both referred to in Bad Romance: “I want your psycho, your vertigo stick”. Kelsey Keith, a fellow worshipper of the Goddess that is Lady Gaga, quotes on the same subject that “Lady Gaga suffers from a disease called AWESOME that means she can make jokes out of Alfred Hitchcock films:
I want your psycho/
Your vertigo stick/
Want you in my rear window/
Baby you’re sick/
I want your love
Now that is talent.”
In addition to pyromania, psychosis, nymphomania and narcissism of this particular song, I have it down as one of Gaga’s greatest works- and I have no doubt I will be saying exactly the same about the next song, and the song after. Let’s not forget that she is merely 23 years old, to have reached nearly the peak of her career and to have obtained such a vast amount of attention over the majority of the planet is staggering, I only wonder that the act of completely peculiar pop-star will lessen with each album, if so: I don’t care. The bizarre and distinctiveness of her act may diminish as more aspiring stars appear, imitating the new light that Gaga has given to show-business, but she will undoubtedly stay one of the most original and most exciting artists of this modern day. All I can say in conclusion is: bring on the next album.

Now, Alejandro, to begin with, I'll post the lyrics:
I know that we are young and I know that you may love me, but I just can't be with you like this anymore, Alejandro...

Ohhh Ohh
She's got both hands in her pocket
And she won't look at you
Won't look at you
She hides true love en su bolsillo
She's got a halo around her finger
Around you

You know that I love you boy
Hot like Mexico, rejoice
At this point I've gotta choose
Nothing to lose

Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Alejandro
I'm not your babe
I'm not your babe, Fernando

Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch
Just smoke my cigarette and hush
Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Roberto

Alejandro, Alejandro
Ale Alejandro
Ale Alejandro (x2)

Stop, please. Just let me go, Alejandro. Just let me go.

She's not broken, she's just a baby
But her boyfriend's like her dad, just like a dad.
And all those flames that
Burned before him,
Now he's gotta firefight
Gotta cool the bad

You know that I love you boy
Hot like Mexico, rejoice
At this point I gotta choose
Nothing to lose

Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Alejandro
I'm not your babe
I'm not your babe, Fernando

Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch
Just smoke my cigarette and hush
Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Roberto

Alejandro, Alejandro
Ale Alejandro
Ale Alejandro (x2)

Don't bother me, don't bother me Alejandro
Don't call my name, call my name, bye Fernando
I'm not your babe, I'm not your babe, Alejandro
Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch, Fernado

Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Alejandro
I'm not your babe
I'm not your babe, Fernando

Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch
Just smoke my cigarette and hush
Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Roberto

Alejandro, Alejandro
Ale Alejandro
Ale Alejandro (x2)

Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Alejandro
I'm not your babe
I'm not your babe, Fernando

Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch
Just smoke my cigarette and hush
Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Roberto

Alejandro, Alejandro
Ale Alejandro
Ale Alejandro (x4)

I've been looking into it and there is so so many different interpretations people have come up with, from her lover 'Alejandro' having gay affairs with 'Fernando' and 'Roberto' (though this is beyond me) to it simply being about how no man can hold her down despite his love for her. After doing some hefty research into many opinions, I found my favorite: "The song is about how she sees love based on a man's wallet".
The line 'She hides true love en su bolsillo' literally means 'she hides true love in a pocket' (bolsillo is pocket in spanish), she has the ability to wrap men round her finger with her innocent act- 'She's got a halo round her finger, around you'. Her Wiki page states that it describes her fear of commitment to one man, the change of name in the song could represent three seperate lovers OR how she simply forget's Alejandro's name due to her lack of commitmenmt. The very beginning of the song is her realisation that what she is doing is wrong and so she can no longer be with him, unfortunately Alejandro cannot accept this as he is already in love with her and refers to her as "babe" to her dismay. He does not realise that she has felt nothing more than lust for him and just wanted his money. :) My god, I love lady Gaga.

Thought I'd post this driving thingy i was doing for english revision! The question was: "write an article arguing that driving should be taught in schools"
I'll also finished it! I never did :|

Driving is seen as an important factor in life, it is possibly one of the most useful things you can learn in this modern day and age, along with maths, english and learning to toast a piece of bread. I'm not sure how good your education was, but maths and english played an incredibly large part in mine from the young age of five- and I learnt to make toast in year five when we were each assigned “toast duty” to sell for break time snacks (though I realise this isn't necessary in the usual curriculum). The instant we turn 17, the first thing we want is to know how to drive and to have a nice shiny car to cruise in, this is our chance to never have to sit on an old, solid, mangy bus ever again. No more stingy drunk people plodding onto the bus only to sit next to you, no more ragged old wet dogs thats' stench fills the entire bus and lingers even after they've got off- no more! For the first time we can chose our passengers and the state of them. Driving is an opportunity to get out when you like and wherever you like- if mum says it's ok of course- the difficulty is the expense both of the lessons and the car itself. The waiting list for driving tests can be longer than the ques in primark on a saturday afternoon, a friend of mine booked his three monthes after his 17th birthday and had his first test two monthes before his 18th- to me, this is slightly ridiculous.

bit naff so far. will work on. feedback?
Right, BASICALLY, I was on squarespace and did a few posts, but i found out it was a trial, so i'll shove all the posts i did on here :)

UNO

Right ok. Blog blog blog blog blog. To be honest I don't even know if I'm actually posting a blog right now, I'm yet to fully work out how the HELL to work out this website. Into final week of school now. EEK. Finally dawened on me yesterday in this pretty naff Record of Achievement assembly we had yesterday. I bawled my eyes out. In fact, i was only one of the few people that did. I expected loads to cry like a baby, but not me! In my mind i'm focussing on the loooooooovely hot (it WILL be) extended Summer holiday we're going to get. If today is anything to go by, it'll be fabby. I just ate my first 'twister' ice lolly of the year and am hoping it'll be hot enough to eat at least a stone in weight of um :). But yeah, set on the summer, not the exams, i have 7 to go, english lit on tuesday. ARGH. In fact, I'm going to go out and bathe in the scorching sun -after i've finished going on a bit- and read my revision notes. It's strange how everyone is making the effort to get to know and get along with other people in this final week, it's nice for the moment, it'll continue for this week and everyone will love everyone else, then in the Summer it'll evapourate with the heat (yes, wishful thinking).

TWO-O

Ok so the revision didn't last long, undoubtedly must research revision methods.

Considerring just reading out a revision page and recording it on my phone, then just listening to it over and over. Could work? We shall see.

"Sleep-learning (also known as sleep-teaching or hypnopædia) attempts to convey information to a sleeping person, typically by playing a sound recording to them while they sleep."

This could work? Sounds like a real ish thing? :o and i'm sleeping at the same time, WHY HAS NO-ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS?!

.. wait..

"The researchers concluded that learning during sleep was "impractical and probably impossible." They reported that stimulus material presented during sleep was not recalled later when the subject awoke unless alpha activity occurred at the same time the stimulus material was given. Since alpha activity during sleep indicates the subject is about to awake, the researchers felt that any learning occurred in a wake state."

Sod off. Why is life never easy?

A girl in my sisters year has created a false facebook account for "Alex Gaskarth", the guy from youme@six or something, she's then put herself as in a relationship with him. Sounds like a laugh doesn't it. HAHAHAHAHAHA. No.. well, it would be, apart from the little messages they write on "eachothers'" walls? And she's uploaded like a photo album for him? Think this goes a bit beyond in my opinion. But hey, coud still be "a laugh" right? Personally have never seen the attraction of totally stalking a celebrity. How does this make you more attractive anyway? Ruins the practically invisible chance you have. Although saying this, I did find out which primary school Alex Pettyfer went to... Hmm.

TREE

I'm feeling the need to post regularly to make sure I actually keep at doing this.

When I trust myself to I'll post less frequently on more interesting subjects :).

Had the plan to sit and revise English Lit all day, to be fair this morning I did sit out in the garden in the beautiful heat and did a fair amount. But then i started to get a little distracted, from about 12 onwards i did nothing revision wise. Met up with Charlie, went to this charity football game... Her good friends good friend killed himself recently after finding out he had cancer. Then shortly after his sister found she had cancer. So friends of his organised a charity football match with tombola etc in aid of cancer research. Which is lovely really :). Then had a dress fitting for prom, forgotton how much i loved my dress, my feet must have swelled in the heat though as they would NOT fit in my prom shoes! Tonight had a BBQ with a few of the friends and reminisced over the past 5 school years. Really hitting home that I'm leaving now, hm.

FOUR

Right. I'm writing this in response to another blog post I read about social networking sites and the bloggers distaste for them. It REALLY irritated me because this particular blogger does not use a social networking site himself and yet feels it acceptable to slag off and judge the people that use them. This quote got me the most:

"But anyway, as to my opinion, I’ll keep it short and sweet…I personally think that people who are obsessed with these sites have absolutely NO LIFE"

Actually, I quite like facebook and though I agree that it is maniupulative and addictive in the sense that it acts as a total distraction when trying to do something perhaps a little important on the computer. But to say facebook users have NO LIFE?! I'll have you know, although facebook does serve as somewhat distracting, it does NOT effect my social life. In fact, it probably helps it, when it comes to keeping in touch with friends from school, or even better: NOT from my school... I can easily make plans and stay in close contact with them through facebook. Facebook and social networking sites might be dominating society, but so what? I don't neccessarily think this is a bad thing. Educationally, it may serve as a bit of an issue with pointless distractions, i have sometimes just sat and watched facebook do nothing and prying into the lives of people i barely know simply because it's more interesting than whatever work I'm doing.

will finish this when i have time, probably after my pooey exams.

I've finished my pooey exams :) just to catch up before i continue with my rant and rave: I left school a couple weeks ago, all exams over now, getting a little bored- I've started knitting. YES that's right, knitting, my friends came over for "tea and cake" on monday and we sat in the garden (i got my wish, the weather is lush) and i KNITTED. No kidding. I left school 2 weeks ago, not 50 years ago. Enjoying it though, finished knitting a hat for my friend this morning :) I will post a picci later, think I'm gonna knit a series of funky hats- something to do right? Also thought i'd choreograph a couple dances, a couple for th younger kids, doing telephone by lady gaga with some of the younger kids at my dance school, I want to do one to cartoon heroes by aqua, I'll try get vids up when i work this thing out :).

Anyway, on the subby of that facebook half-blog, in my recent english language exam, for th argue, persuade, advise question- I chose the question "write an article to a teenage magazine advising people how to improve their lives", my advice? Delete facebook. I felt like a hypocrite! Tooootally contadictory to what i was sayin before, but as i bullsh*tted on i realised there was some very good points! I do love facebook don't get me wrong, but it can restrict you from experiencing some of the pleasures of lifeee, personally anyway, i'm always updating my status and gettin excited when people like it :| it's pathetic. When I'm bored, I go on facebook, I sometimes wonder if i DIDN'T have facebook, what would i do to make me un-bored? I'd probably go out and do something a bit more practical! Not brave enough to delete facebook yet, but will definately try to start restrictin how long i go on there!
